13th Aegerter disappointed, 23rd Mulhauser happy
Having struggled during the whole weekend of the GP in MotorLand Aragon that mostly does not suit him, Dominique Aegerter managed to save three championship points having finished in thirteenth position. Doing so he also maintains provisional 6th position in the overall Moto2 world championship classification. Dominique lost two positions in the last corner where he was forced to avoid a rival who crashed just in front of him. Substitute rider for the Technomag-carXpert Team Robin Mulhauser from Fribourg had, for his part, a solid race in his first ever appearance on the world championship stage. Taking a rest back in Switzerland, Randy Krummenacher has not yet recovered 100%; he is going to see some specialists again next Tuesday.
Dominique Aegerter (13th): "We tried everything but it was not enough. Since the very beginning of this Moto2 project, we have never changed the bike set-up so much in only three days. Personally, I tried to adapt my riding style, my lines, but no matter what I was doing, I was still at the same pace. I had a good start, like always, so I could think high in the first laps when the pace was not extremely high yet. But later there was nothing I could do. I was 11th on the last lap when Cortese attacked De Angelis, hit him and Alex crashed just in front of me. I touched his bike with my front wheel and only by miracle I did not crash as well. This was a dull weekend but for the signing of my contract for next season. Now all that is irrelevant as we still have 4 races ahead of us and we are going to make the most of it. "
Robin Mulhauser (23rd): "This was an extraordinary experience, thanks to the Technomag-carXpert Team management for giving me this opportunity. I understood very well that there's still a lot of work for me in terms of my physical preparation as well as my riding style. I had a really good start but unfortunately someone very optimistic pushed me out in the first corner and I found myself at the back of the pack. Later I found a consistent pace; not fast enough, but consistent. My final position, 23rd, is not bad but I have to admit that I struggled a lot physically as the Moto2 race lasts twice as long as an European Superstock 600 race."
