Aegerter great fifth, Krummenacher struggles
Finishing fifth in the British Grand Prix on the circuit of Silverstone, Dominique Aegerter scored points for the twenty-seventh time, which has made him the fifth most consistent rider in the history after Luca Cadalora, Andrea Dovizioso, Ralf Waldmann and Daijiro Kato. "Domi" crossed the line 2.226 seconds behind the race winner Scott Redding; he's never been so close to the victory ever. Dominique's teammate Randy Krummenacher had a more difficult day as he finished nineteenth having been affected by a problem with his clutch.
Dominique Aegerter (5th): "Fifth in the race a bit over 2 seconds from the victory, this is a proof that we, the whole team, have reacted well after the disappointment we had in Brno. I had a good start, as usual, soon after I went fourth. I was able to keep up with the leading trio but I was pushing to the limit on every lap. In two or three splits I was losing some hundredths and I had to make up for it on brakes. I was fighting, I want to defend my Top-5 position in the world championship standings but I am aware that consistency will not be enough - I need podiums. To be losing around one tenth a lap, looking at the overall race results, it is nothing but it is a lot at the same time. Personally I have to work on my performance in qualifying to be more consistent there; I have to constantly think about my riding and my bodywork. Now we are heading to circuits that suit me well and I promise that we will be back on the podium there!"
Randy Krummenacher (19th): "I had a good start but I got caught up on the first lap again. I was 25th and I knew that it was going to be very difficult to climb back, however, I stayed focused. I managed to increase my pace and caught the group with Torres when I started to realise that something was wrong with my clutch. I adjusted the lever a few times but on the last lap I ended up running wide. After the race we found out that the clutch was overheated but we do not understand why. To sum it up, a day to forget and I am only going to remember my good qualifying from this weekend. We had three difficult weekends and now I am looking forward to recharge my batteries to be ready for Misano at my best."
