Aegerter works hard, Mulhauser makes a big step forward

26.09.2014

Dominique Aegerter finished 8th overall today in the combined free practice session for the Moto2 Grand Prix of Aragon on the superb circuit in MotorLand. After some technical issues this morning, the best Swiss rider of the world championship classification improved in the afternoon. His team mate in the Technomag-carXpert Team, Robin Mulhauser, made a significant step forward: for the first time in his career in the world championship, the youngster from Fribourg finished the day off in Top-20 overall in the most competitive GP category. This being result of an excellent work of the whole team in the preceding months.

Dominique Aegerter (8th): "I am in a good group but I'm not up in the front yet. We still have a lot of work to do on Saturday. Aragon is one of our test circuits and we started the weekend off with the basic setup that was working well here last June. However, the weather conditions were not the same back then. I caught a cold last week and I still feel a little bit sick. But this morning it was more of a rider problem rather than a technical issue that held us up. My objective remains the same: I want to qualify on first or second row and fight for a Top-5 finish, ideally a podium on Sunday. I want to finish the race ahead of Lüthi, who is closing on me in the championship and Viñales, who is one position ahead."

Robin Mulhauser (20th): "This was the first time that I saw my name on the first page of the screen displaying the results during each session. It is quite nice. This morning the track did not have grip and we therefore decided not to try both tyres that we have at our disposal. This afternoon was a lot better and with the right tyre the grip was good and I got my fastest lap times riding alone, which is always positive. This is the only circuit where I have already ridden last year and the work that we did here after the Grand Prix of Catalunya this year also bears its fruit. Our base is good, I have never been this fast like today in Aragon and my objective of course is to confirm this position tomorrow in qualifying."
